Seen a story we're missing — a wrongful stop, a settlement, a cancelled contract, an audit, a breach? Send it. Every entry on this site started as a link somebody found.
How to send it
A link and a sentence is enough. We do the checking; you don't need to write the entry. Every submission goes through the same verification as everything else on the site, so the surest route to publication is a source that prints the facts.
What a good submission includes
- Sources with URLs — the page you actually read, not a summary of it. Primary documents (court filings, council minutes, audits, contracts) and local reporting beat aggregators. Two independent sources are better than one.
- The event date — when the stop, filing, vote or settlement happened, not when it was reported. If only a month is known, say so.
- Where — city and state, or "statewide" / "federal".
- The dollar figure, if a source prints one — and who paid: the city, the county, the state, or the vendor. That distinction decides whether it counts toward THE TAB.
- The technology and vendor, when named.
- Anything a vendor or agency said in response, with its source.
What we won't publish
- Claims without a source, or with a source we can't reach.
- Private individuals' names or home addresses, in any form. Named plaintiffs in public filings are the only exception.
- Speculation about motive, or anything where a source hedges and we'd have to un-hedge it.
- Entries about a product's marketing alone — there has to be an event.
Corrections
Wrong figure, wrong date, missing context, a source that has since been updated? Email a correction with the source and we'll fix the entry and mark it updated. Details of the policy are on the About page.
