Skamania County settles Flock license plate camera lawsuit for $19,900

On March 24, 2026, Judge Randall Krog approved a $19,900 settlement between Skamania County and Jose Rodriguez, who had sued under Washington’s public records law after the county declined to release Flock license plate reader images. The county had failed to provide or preserve images from six Flock cameras over a five-hour period. Sheriff Summer Scheyer had turned off the cameras in November 2025. Six days later, Governor Bob Fergusen signed a law exempting such images from public records requests. Rodriguez said he accepted the settlement because the records were already deleted.
